What does the Mafia in America do today?

Do they run banks? Do they play the stock market? Are they still into gambling?

I'm curious what the families have their hands into these days. I heard something about being involved with insurance companies, but I have no clue if thats right or not.

From what I understand, mafia men are pretty much an extinct species anymore. I know in Vegas they are gone. Rumor has it though they run some restaurants inside some of the casino's but I tend to believe that's more myth than truth.
